Description

Learning to transform violence into peace

Through a series of stories inspired by students’ everyday lives, the PAX! comic strip encourages children to observe, understand and resolve situations of tension or conflict in a non-violent way. The stories encourage them to think about difference, respect, dialogue and seeking help when in difficulty.

Developed with teachers, parents and education professionals, PAX! supports the prevention of violence in the school environment and promotes relationships based on trust, listening and cooperation.

What children will explore:

  • Understanding the difference between conflict and violence
  • Learning to manage disputes through dialogue
  • Develop listening skills, tolerance and respect for others
  • Identify risky behavior and know where to turn
  • Building trust between children and adults

Origin of the project
PAX! is an initiative of the Junior Chamber International of Geneva, in collaboration with the Groupement des associations de parents d’élèves du primaire (GAPP), the Société pédagogique genevoise (SPG), the Département de l’instruction publique, and several educational and medico-social services.

Distributed to schools in the canton of Geneva for almost 20 years, it continues to be used as a tool for raising awareness of the importance of living together and non-violence.
A tool for learning to live together respectfully and without violence.
